In this lesson we'll get you signed up with Facebook and, if you don't have one, a free email address (which is required for Facebook registration). It's all free and you've got nothing to lose, so give it a shot!
TIP: If you're reading this guide online, you can keep it open while navigating to other websites like Facebook and Gmail. Just click File > New Window to open a separate browser window. Then just place the windows side-by-side by dragging their title bars around.

Welcome to our Facebook guide! Everyone is welcome here, regardless of your past computer experience. We do assume you know a couple of things--that you know how to turn on your computer and start up your web browser (which you know as Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Chrome)--but that's it. We'll guide you through the rest.
In this lesson we'll get you signed up with Facebook and, if you don't have one, a free email address (which is required for Facebook registration). It's all free and you've got nothing to lose, so give it a shot!

    1. Email Sign-up and Basics
If you have an email address already (something like yourname@somesite.com) and you know how to access it, you can skip to Step 2. If not, let's get you signed up with a free Gmail (Google Email) account! You'll need it to sign up for Facebook, but it'll also come in handy for other kinds of correspondence on the web.
