What was actually accomplished

  • Everybody already had a good handle of computer basics
  • Gmail - settings up accounts, teaching basics - took the longest
  • Setting up general Facebook accounts

Particular Problems

  • Gmail
    • No need for this step if they already have an email account they know how to use
    • verification - existing email or text message - both need to be explained

What needs to be remembered (to be included/emphasized in documentation)

  • The reasons behind their actions, why they had to do things like:
    • Gmail
      • verify their email
      • captchas
      • typing in passwords multiple times when signing up
    • Facebook
      • why they need an email address
      • contact search through existing addresses (steps of the new user wizard) - why you can skip steps if you want to
