Welcome! (A Quick Intro)

Welcome to our Facebook guide! Everyone is welcome here, regardless of your past Internet experience. We do assume you know a couple of things--that you know how to turn on your computer and start up your web browser (which you know as Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Chrome)--but that's it. We'll guide you through the rest.

In this lesson we'll get you signed up with Facebook and, if you don't have one, a free email address (which is required for Facebook registration). It's all free and you've got nothing to lose, so give it a shot!

TIP: If you're reading this guide online, you can keep it open while navigating to other websites like Facebook and Gmail. Just click File > New Window to open a separate browser window. Then just place the windows side-by-side by dragging their title bars around.

A) Email Sign-up and Basics

If you have an email address already (something like yourname@somesite.com) and you know how to access it, you can skip to Part B. If not, let's get you signed up with a free Gmail (Google Email) account! You'll need it to sign up for Facebook, but it can also come in handy for other kinds of correspondence on the web (if you choose to use it for that -- it's always totally up to you).
